100 Years of Inland Mission

Dear PIM Supporter,

100 years ago the Presbyterian Church of Australia established the Australian Inland Mission (AIM), largely from the vision and leadership of the Rev. Dr John Flynn. At the 1912 GAA, held in Scots Church Melbourne, Flynn was appointed the first Superintendent of the AIM. This organisation would prove to have a lasting and profound effect on our nation.

To mark the centenary of the establishment of the AIM, and to be updated on the work and vision of PIM today, a Centenary service of Thanksgiving and Celebration is planned for the evening of the 22nd September, 2012 at Scots Church Melbourne.

Could I ask that you actively promote this significant and historical event in your congregations over the next few weeks.

At this service, among other things, all current patrol padres will be introduced, there will be a book launch, announcements about the establishment of a new congregation in Alice Springs, and there will be a sermon by the Moderator General of the PCA, the Rt Rev. David Jones. Please find below a short announcement of the event that can be included in your weekly news sheet as well as a number of links to advertisements that you can print and distribute as appropriate.

If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance to you to help promote this event please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely in Christ,

Rev. Stuart Bonnington
Superintendent PIM

PIM National Centenary Celebration Service
