Roger and Margaret Crane- North Queensland PIM Patrol based out of Charters Towers.

"A Sunday evening late in 2008 was a significant time for us. I inquired as to the possibilities, come retirement, of voluntary ministry in country Queensland. I was told that there were three paid positions, doing just that, which would be available with PIM in 2009Having grown up in the Gladesville/Hunters Hill area of Sydney I completed an electrical fitter's trade course in 1967 before attending Macquarie University, graduating in 1974. My wife, Margaret, who is a dairy farmer's daughter from the Darling Downs, and I, are both teachers. We served in PNG with APCM for four years (78-81). On our return I took up a teaching position in Toowoomba in 1982. Our two sons, Stephen & Jonathan, both had a genetic condition to which they succumbed, forty days apart, in 2003. We were their full time carers for more than twelve years prior to this. On that Sunday evening mentioned before, the Rev. Laurie Peake made known to me the opportunities for service that were available with PIM.  Margaret and I both felt a sense of excitement about, and a clear calling to, this form of ministry. Now, only four month later w find ourselves surrounded by boxes, most of which are pack d, and myriad little jobs, and some not so little, to do, all of which needed to be done by April 15, on which date we move to Charters Towers. We don't go out on our ownWithout the prayer support of the wider PIM family, we would be dead in the water, (and there's lots of it up there right now!) before we beginPlease join with us as we undertake this new venture in our lives. Our patrol area goes from Clermont west through Aramac, Muttaburra, Winton and Julia Creek to Boulia, then north through Cloncurry to Normanton and Karurnba, east through Croydon, Georgetown and on to the Kennedy Hwy. junction, then south back through Charters Towers to Clermont again. All this means that Margaret has had to relinquish her Safari Admin role on the CWCI board. The position is as yet unfilled. Somehow I can't imagine Margaret keeping out of CWCI up north!
